This online exhibit was originally published in 2008 drawing from an exhibit hosted by the Comstock Memorial Library of Entomology at Cornell University in the summer and fall of 2007. The exhibit featured a selection of rare volumes donated by the late Professor John G. Franclemont to the Comstock Library’s exceptional collection of old and rare works in the field of entomology. Prof. Franclemont also donated an extensive collection of Lepidoptera specimens to the Cornell University Insect Collection.
Mann Library gratefully acknowledges James Liebherr (Department of Entomology, Cornell University) and Marty Schlabach (Mann Library) for providing guidance on exhibit content, Mann conservator Frank Brown for technical help in preparing the volumes and images for display, student assistant Pisut Wisessing '08 for the design of an early version of this online exhibit, Cornell University Library technical services specialist Roswitha Clark for her assistance in German translation, outreach specialist Daisy Wiley for digital publishing assistance (2021 exhibit edition), and Eveline Ferretti for editing and production management.
